Family Trees Lamaze-Accredited Program has trained more than 400 childbirth educators from over 28 countries and territories, receiving glowing accolades from each and every participant.
For more than five years, our students from all over the world continue to support (and lean on!) one another through our online support group. Whether it is help preparing for the certification exam, sharing new teaching ideas, or launching a new business, our students find new friends and colleagues (even if they've never met in person!) and show up to help a fellow Lamaze educator whenever the need arises. |
Today's adult learners want meaningful, evidence based information surrounding their choices in childbirth. Content must be updated and presented to today's tech-savvy learners. Childbirth educators need to be on top of their game with the best adult learning/teaching methods. Family Trees Lamaze-Accredited Program delivers this content in an easy-to-understand-for-the-not-so-tech-savvy-teacher throughout our training.
Dynamic Teaching
Dynamic teaching will fill your childbirth classes. It's what fills our childbirth seminars. Our tried and true learning experience has brought seminar participants from more than ten countries and territories including Russia, Jamaica, Philippines, Guam, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, 25+ US states, Bermuda, and numerous Canadian Territories.
Our learners come from a variety of healthcare and non-healthcare settings, making our seminars rich in diversity.

We want you to be a successful, dynamic teacher, too. No matter how much childbirth education experience you have under your belt, you will walk away with many new ideas for teaching today's adult learners. We have students who teach one-on-one private classes exclusively with Amish and Mennonite communities, educators working in the public health departments and Healthy Start programs, university student nursing programs, hospital settings, independent group educators, and more.
Teaching Virtual Childbirth Education
A unique thing happened to childbirth education in 2020. We learned that pregnant people and their families want virtual education - just as much, if not more than, in person childbirth education. Educators who learned this early on, took full advantage and found their classes thriving. Since then, virtual childbirth education has shown us that it is here to stay, even when we all return to a normal way of living. Vitual childbirth education reaches more people and eliminates some of the barriers people face in attending an in-person class.
HOWEVER...
HOWEVER...
There is a learning curve for the virtual educator. Teaching online takes a lot of practice. There is a right way, and a wrong way, and the educational experience still needs to be dynamic. We cannot let go of adult learning principles simply because it is easier to click through a slide presentation than it is to prepare interactive learning activities.
Childbirth Educators are important members of a birthing person's team and circle of care. Birthing people, their babies, and their families deserve high quality childbirth education - even (and especially with!) virtual teaching.
During this seminar, you will learn engaging activities for virtual teaching. You will leave this seminar prepared to teach online and engage learners, setting you up for a successful career during challenging times.

Are There Pre-Requisites To Becoming A Childbirth Educator? No!
Experienced Childbirth Educators |
New To Childbirth Education |
Why would a current, certified childbirth educator want to take this seminar?
Lamaze certification is the GOLD STANDARD of childbirth education. Being certified through any organization might allow you to meet the MINIMUM requirements of your employer, and it might be easy and convenient to attain, but in a professional setting, it is simply not enough. Adding the Lamaze credential is a wise investment into your career. It is the VERY BEST you can do for yourself as a professional childbirth educator. We guarantee you will add a plethora of teaching ideas, activities, and content to your childbirth education class. Family Trees Lamaze-Accredited Program prides itself in top-of-the-line teaching activities created and facilitated by a professional educator. While other childbirth educator training programs might get you the minimum credential you need to begin teaching, Family Trees Lamaze-Accredited Program will prepare you to fill your classes, get parents excited about your class, and create students who are informed consumers in their own healthcare. This is about improving outcomes for our parents. If you are a childbirth educator clicking your way through the PowerPoint of a purchased childbirth education curriculum, it's time to invest in yourself as a professional. You deserve to be the gold standard, absolute best, professional childbirth educator. Don't settle for less. |
While there are no professional prerequisites required for our Lamaze Childbirth Educator Seminar, our students represent a variety of backgrounds.
Since 2015, Family Trees has trained physicians, professors, midwives, nurses/nurse managers, doulas, stay-at-home mothers, childbirth educators, teachers, EMTs, bakers, bankers, stay-at-home fathers, accountants, government employees, social workers, football coach, airline employees, nutritionists, veterinarians, writers, AWHONN employees, phlebotomist, Reiki Masters, CEOs, engineers, physical therapists, graphic designers, CDC employees, massage therapists, occupational therapists, college students, IBCLCs, CLCs, film producers, WIC employees, and a middle school student (just to name a few). There's room for EVERYONE at our seminar. After completing the seminar, students will have everything they need to prepare for Lamaze certification regardless of their prior training. |
Affordability - The Investment into Your Future
There are not many careers where a small investment into your training and certification will be earned back almost immediately. Becoming a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) is one of them. The investment you make towards this seminar will allow you to begin teaching childbirth classes right away* . Teaching three or four expecting couples will offer a return on your seminar investment.
* You may not call yourself Lamaze Certified, and you may not call your class a Lamaze class until you pass the Lamaze exam.
That said, we realize that investing in the seminar is not a possibility for everyone. We want to make that easier. We know what kind of professional doors this certification can open for people. We know this certification can change lives - yours, and those of the families you will teach. We do not take that lightly. We know you need to be here, you are needed here, and we want you here.

Virtual Seminar Format
The virtual seminar offers the same information as our in-person seminar - plus MORE! You will spend three days immersed into Lamaze education with professionals from around the world. Learning is both sychronous and asynchronous, allowing for individual flexibility (because..working from home can be hard these days!) while feeling very connected during our highly-interactive Zooms. We find this has been a very successful and preferred method of learning for our seminar participants. It is the perfect blend of "structured flexibility".
- Students view pre-recorded lectures, demonstrations, and participate in activities on their own time each day. Students must finish each day's work by the end of that day.
- Students Zoom together three times throughout each day (10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm ET)
- New York City time on the World Clock
- Participation in Zooms is required
