Prenatal Consultation for Parents
Family Trees prenatal consultation was created for the busy family who needs prenatal support and childbirth education that works with their demanding schedule. Many of our families have careers or family dynamics that make it difficult to intimately participate in a group environment. Our services offer online, private, flexible classes and prenatal support consultations for all families.
Designed to get you and your partner or support team prepared for your birth experience. Together, couples will learn to:
Make the best evidence-based maternity care choices and choose a support team
Effectively communicate with their healthcare provider
Review best birth practices and how they may translate into their current maternity care provider and hospital
Write an effective birth plan
Learn practical labor support for the best birth experience
The online consultation is structured, but allows room for individualization as needed by couples. The consultations are not a childbirth education class, but rather a format to begin thinking about your own personal needs.
In this online childbirth education series, we will learn about the Lamaze Six Healthy Birth Practices, the hormonal physiology of birth, emotional aspects of labor, and comfort techniques. This class is a compliment to the prenatal consultation meetings and all from the comfort of your own home. This class focuses on evidence based practices, and empowering mothers to make informed choices knowing the lasting impact her birth will have on the rest of her life.
A comprehensive yet convenient, online breastfeeding course designed to give you the basics in breastfeeding so you may have the best start possible to your breastfeeding journey. In addition to the "how to breastfeed" topic, students will be able to find further education and support specific to their needs.
HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK
In this online class, parents will learn the basics of newborn care and techniques based on the work of world renowned pediatrician, Dr. Harvey Karp. Parents have the option to purchase a HBOTB Parenting Kit. Family Trees believes this is one of the best classes a new parent can take!
Family Trees is your very own prenatal consultation and educational support. During prenatal meetings, a doula can help you and your support team prepare for the birth of your baby, according to your individual needs. Beyond what a childbirth class can offer, a doula can help guide you through true, individual labor support.
Research shows that doula support lowers the use of unnecessary medical interventions, decreases the risk of cesarean section, shortens labor length, and improves birth outcomes. In 2014, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommended the use of a trained doula for the safe prevention of the primary cesarean delivery. Many additional benefits to having a doula can be found here.
